Easter Egg Hunt and Cookout 2010

Lisa Reid takes excellent care of our dogs whilst they are waiting for that their new family to find them. One thing she does to enrich their lives is to put on an Easter egg hunt for their benefit. She puts small pieces of hotdog inside plastic eggs and scatters them around the yard for the dogs to find and enjoy. Over the years it has evolved into an all-day cookout hosted by Lisa as her way of thanking the volunteers for what they do. Had the most beautiful warm weather we've ever had in the 9 years we've been doing the Doggie Easter Egg Hunt and cookout !! Thanks to Lisa Reid, Kim McCabe, Diane Bonham and Mary Portelly for the photos and captions.

Lisa carefully placing an egg

Aggie found the egg that Reese (cause in 10 seconds managed to get the egg basket handle around her head) couldn't see......opportunistic??

Bernice and Anniebelle - (newcomers got "layed" sp?) - got along just fine - we thought gettin layed - would be a great way to determine the newbies ...was so....BUT it did not matter - they all got along ...new and old!!

Aggie bein' polite...you go ahead Bernice.....

Justin (one of Patty Szurek's) is an old hand at this.

Reloading the eggs ready for round two.

Some very attentive dogs waiting patiently for the hunt to start again.

Kim McCabe's dogs ... Margo & Bernice.

Patty helps Justin get a hot dog.

This was all new to Reese so she started out slow but soon got the hang of it.

Reese and Charlie (both available for adoption) hunting.

AnniBelle checking the basket of empties to make sure that nothing got left behind!

Patty Szurek with two of her dogs ... Etta Mae and Justin ... you can be guaranteed that something good was being eaten just out of camera shot!

Having a good time at the cookout.
