PLEASE NOTE: We
adopt to residents of Northern Virginia and Suburban Maryland only. All dogs over the age of 6 months old will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If the dog is under the age of 6 months, an additional spay/neuter fee will be charged, and you will be given a certificate for the surgery. Prior to adoption, our dogs get crate training and learn basic commands, which makes the transition into your home much smoother. We encourage our adopters to continue with obedience training. |

Most of my young life I was kept in a crate all day because my owners didn't have time for me. (Why did they even get a dog?) A nice lady who's rescued many dogs offered to find a good home for me with the help of the SPCA. I'm grateful because she's taught me some basic commands and she's discovered that I'm friendly toward people of all ages as well as dogs and cats (except I've never met any small kids yet but I think I'll like them). Next step is to find a family that will be friendly to me. | |

Hello, my name is Princess, but I certainly wasn't treated royally. My owner kept me either chained in the backyard (no proper shelter, either) or in a crate in the basement. That's no way for a dog to live. Fortunately, the SPCA humane investigators were able to take charge of me, so things are already looking up. Although I may be a bit shy at first, I warm up to people quickly and I really want to love and be loved. A fenced yard with room to run and play would be wonderful. I overheard my nice rescuers say that I'm very sweet and beautiful, too. Come to an adoption day and see what you think. | |
